Parkers announces Van and Pickup Award winners 2024 has partnered with Parkers – the definitive resource for car buying advice in the UK – to bring you the awards for the Best Small Van, Best Large Van, Best Electric Van and Best Pickup in its prestigious new Van and Pickup Awards 2024.

The winners are the Toyota Proace City, Ford Transit, Ford E-Transit and Ford Ranger, and are four of a total of 18 award winners revealed today (15 November).

For Best Small Van the Toyota Proace City was a clear-cut winner for the third consecutive year. It’s almost identical to the excellent Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo, but the Toyota noses ahead thanks to the added security of its 10-year warranty and industry-leading dealer network.

Tom Webster, Parkers Vans and Pickup Editor, said: ‘This is the sort of thing that could make a real-world difference to how much your van costs to run during its time with you and is a compelling reason for our continued championing of the Proace City.’

In the Large Vans category last year’s winner – the Ford Transit – makes it two in a row. It wins not just for its excellent load capacity, but for its car-like driving experience, comfort and all-round usability. Top that off with brilliant in-cabin tech and a wide model range, and it really is the best large van you can buy.

Tom said: ‘The Transit is well equipped, has front-, rear- and four-wheel drive versions, is supported by a comprehensive dealer network and the ever-expanding Ford Pro proposition and it is excellent to drive. It is, in short, a consummate all-rounder that justifies its position as the nation’s most famous name in commercial vehicles.’

On the Best Pickup award, which went to the Ford Ranger, Tom said: ‘The Ranger is fantastic to drive, has a brilliant interior and has more space in the cabin than its predecessor. This makes it more versatile, benefitting those that want to transport people just as much as they want to carry a heavy pile in the loading bay. It moves the game on and cements its place as the best of those available.’

And on the Best Electric Van, the Ford E-Transit, Tom concluded: ‘It has the longest range of any large van with 196 miles possible between charges, while it is the most powerful large van full stop with up to 269hp. That it is a conversion rather than a purpose-built electric van makes this all the more impressive and interesting.’

The winners have been appraised rigorously by the team, which judged the best in their class for a combination of value, quality, reliability, cost-per-month on finance deals and fitness-for-purpose. Finance was minutely evaluated, too.

Keith Adams Parkers Editor added: ‘This is the first time we’ve spun out the vans and pickups from the New Car Awards, reflecting how important commercial vehicles are. We’re also excited to have come up with such an interesting selection of winners. We’re more than happy with our winners – they’re all part of a brilliant line-up.’

The Van and Pickup Awards 2024 have been spun out of the Parkers New Car Awards, and reflect the constantly evolving views of Britain’s commercial vehicle-buying public, with winners decided by a combination of the site’s expert reviewers’ verdicts in thousands of miles of road testing and the purchasing habits of the website’s 2.3 million users actively involved in the buying process.
