The five best naked bikes
Most bikers love their bells and whistles, in fact, it appears the more gadgets and parts we can fit on our bikes the better.
But for those of us who prefer the more natural look, the market offers an ever-widening range of naked bikes that are designed to meet -and exceed- our more simple needs.
2017 Kawasaki Z650
The Z650 can best be compared to the Yamaha FZ-07 or Suzuki SV650 in terms of spec superiority and is as nimble as it is eye catching.
Some welcome tweaks have been made since its hugely popular predecessor, the in particular to the chassis which has been upgraded from a double-pipe perimeter frame to a high-tensile steel trellis frame, lightening the overall weight of the bike and enabling it to handle more stress with ease.
This model also has an impressive design and build for its price point (RRP £6,099) with high quality styling, sturdy hardware and a neat overall finish.
Ducati Monster 1200
The latest Monster offering has been redesigned with quality materials and cutting-edge technology, achieving Ducati’s design objective of a slimmer and sportier Monster with a more compact feel.
With an all- new throttle body and an engine that can easily be compared to that of a ¾ cylinder, the Monster 1200 provides a superb level of performance and an undoubtedly enjoyable ride.
KTM 1290 Super Duke R
There’s no denying that the Super Duke R is a good-looking bike. Its tubeless wheels, extended tank spoilers, sharp rear end, LED head light, steel trellis frame, cMetzeler M7RR tires and orange and white fairings (or black and orange if you prefer) all contribute to its sleek appeal and distinctive look, but it’s the complete lack of plastic that makes the Super Duke R a truly stunning naked.
MV Agusta Dragster RR LH 44
The first bike created in collaboration with four time F1 World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, and MV Agusta, known for their passion, quality and expertise, was always going to be legendary.
Built by hand with F1 standard carbon fibre bodywork, limited edition ID plates and Hamilton’s own signature; these bikes were built to be a collector’s item.
But if you want one you’ll have to find one – only 244 of these exquisite bikes were ever produced.
Triumph Speed Triple R
The Triumph Speed Triple R is the naked all-rounder; mid-range in price, good-looking and a joy to ride. A perfect go-to bike for all riding purposes.
In terms of power it comes just behind the Ducati monster 1200 S (1455bhp) and the Kawasaki Z100 (140bhp) with a respectable 138bhp, but sits in the middle of both when it comes to price with a retail tag of £11,500.
