Best Value Car, Off-Roader and finance winners revealed
Parkers – the definitive resource for car buying advice in the UK – has partnered with mustard.co.uk to bring you the awards for the Best Value Car, the Best Off-Roader and Best Car finance in its prestigious New Car Awards 2023. The winners are the Dacia Jogger, Land Rover Defender and Renault for its great deals, and are three of a total of 24 award winners revealed today (10 October).
For Best Value Car, the Dacia Jogger was a clear-cut winner. It’s a full-sized seven-seater family car for the price of a Ford Fiesta. But just because it’s great value doesn’t mean that it makes do with outdated tech – you get all of the latest kit as standard expected in cars costing much more money.
Keith Adams, Parkers Editor, said: ‘When times are tough, people tend to focus on getting the best value they can. Here’s where the Dacia Jogger does so well – it offers an astounding amount of bang for not much buck. It makes us wonder how they do it for the money – it’s a very worthy winner.’
For Off-Roaders, last year’s winner – the Land Rover Defender – makes it two in a row. It wins not only for its off-road skills, but for its on-road manners and comfort and all-round usability. Top that off with brilliant in-car tech, a wide model range, and it really is the best 4×4 for your money.
Keith Adams said: ‘The Defender remains unchallenged in the off-roader category. It’s a very technology-led design, but it’s simple to use, almost unstoppable off road, and brilliant to drive on them. Finally, it’s wrapped in a design that recalls the original Defender series very effectively indeed.’
On the Best New Car Finance award, Keith Adams added: ‘Massive shout out to Renault here. Other car manufacturers have readily got rid of 0% APR deals and brazenly raised APR by one or two per cent. But the French company is holding strong and still offers 0% APR and no deposit deals on most of its cars (correct at the time of writing), and they can be combined too.’
The winners have been appraised rigorously by the Parkers.co.uk team, which judged the best in their class for a combination of value, quality, reliability, cost-per-month on finance deals and fitness-for-purpose. Finance was minutely evaluated, too.
